A cabinet with high legs was quite typical for Soviet interiors. It was considered a scarce product, one of the markers of height status and prosperity of its owners. Usually, it was imported from the countries of the former Eastern Bloc.

We found our cabinet in a dusty interior of an apartment for sale, on the day before its removal to the trash. A label with the date has been preserved at the bottom of the cabinet – “6 dez 1966”. Originally, it had one more element – an oddly shaped lamp with a lampshade. To remind of its absence, this neon contour appeared – a ghost of the lost light. A unique pattern of cracks, scratches, watermarks – these fragments of its history we preserved without changes.
